At High Plains Humanitarian, we are dedicated to improving the lives of those in need by providing essential resources and support. Our mission is to make a positive impact in our community and beyond.
Founded in 2019, High Plains Humanitarian has grown from a small group of volunteers to a thriving organization with a wide range of programs and services. Over the years, we have helped hundreds of children and families in need.
Our team is made up of passionate and dedicated individuals who are committed to making a difference. From our volunteers to our staff members, everyone at High Plains Humanitarian shares a common goal of helping those in need.
This is an annual event that provides K-12 students in Northern Colorado with free backpacks, stuffed with school supplies, as well as free haircuts, just ahead of each school year. Volunteers grill hotdogs and serve hundreds of free lunches to students and their families on the day of the event. There is also face painting, temporary tattoo's, a splash park, and other activities, all free of charge!
The first of these events was in 2019, and with a skeleton crew of volunteers, and a shoestring budget, they managed to hand out 70 backpacks with school supplies, while the stylists did free haircuts for over 100 kiddos!
Now in its 6th year, the 2024 event stands to be the biggest yet! The goal is to provide 500 backpacks with school supplies, and our team of 10 stylists are aiming for 300 haircuts.
Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc. (PHW) began in 2005 serving wounded military service members at Walter Reed Army Medical Center returning from combat in Iraq and Afghanistan. Since then, PHW has expanded nationwide, establishing its highly successful program in Department of Defense hospitals, Warrior Transition Units, and Veterans Affairs medical centers and clinics.
