At High Plains Humanitarian, we are dedicated to improving the lives of those in need by providing essential resources and support. Our mission is to make a positive impact in our community and beyond.
Founded in 2019, High Plains Humanitarian has grown from a small group of volunteers to a thriving organization with a wide range of programs and services. Over the years, we have helped hundreds of children and families in need.
Our team is made up of passionate and dedicated individuals who are committed to making a difference. Our entire board is 100% volunteer and 100% of your donations are used to fund the events and programs we sponsor.
Everyone at High Plains Humanitarian shares a common goal of helping children and veterans in need.
This is an annual event that provides K-12 students in Northern Colorado with free backpacks, stuffed with school supplies, as well as free haircuts on-site, just ahead of each school year. Volunteers grill hotdogs and serve hundreds of free lunches to students and their families on the day of the event. We also have face painting, temporary tattoo's, a splash park, food trucks and other activities, all free of charge!
The first of these events was in 2019, and with a skeleton crew of volunteers, and a shoestring budget, they managed to hand out 70 backpacks with school supplies, while the stylists did free haircuts for over 100 kiddos!
Now in its 6th year, the 2024 event stands to be the biggest yet! The goal is to provide 400 backpacks with school supplies, and our team of 10 volunteer stylists are aiming for 250 free on-site haircuts.
Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc. (PHW) began in 2005 serving wounded military service members at Walter Reed Army Medical Center returning from combat in Iraq and Afghanistan. Since then, PHW has expanded nationwide, establishing its highly successful program in Department of Defense hospitals, Warrior Transition Units, and Veterans Affairs medical centers and clinics.
